Saturday July 24 11am to 4pm South Street between Beekman St. and Peck Slip
City of Water Day is an event hosted by the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance (MWA), an organization working to preserve and transform the harbors and waterways of New York and New Jersey, to make them clean and accessible for both recreation and function. On Saturday July 24 thousands of people will converge by kayak, canoe, ferry, sail, and boats of all kinds at Governors Island, Liberty State Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Staten Island.
New Amsterdam Market, a revival of our city’s riverfront market tradition, joins the MWA in celebrating City of Water Day 2010 by holding our July market to coincide with these festivities. Explore the historic Fulton Fish Market site, a public legacy on the East River waterfront; and participate in the revival of the South Street Market District by visiting New Amsterdam Market and our vendors, many of whom will feature special picnic fare to enjoy on Governors Island or other venues on the water’s edge.
Visit our vendor page for a complete list of July 24 market participants, and see our map for
detailed directions.
New Amsterdam Market meets again on Sunday, August 22 and then weekly starting Sunday, September 12.
